Peek at My Week with FREEBIES!

Yea, yea, yea....it's Tuesday and I'm just now giving you a Peek at My Week.  Let's just say with all of the snow days....I "Let It Go!"  School that is...and all the worry that came with it!  It has taken me a bit to get back into the swing of things but now that we've got two days under our belt - I feel like we are back to normal!  Here's a peek at what we've been up to and what we have planned for the rest of the week!  To download my plans, just click on the pictures below.  Once you're in, you can click on any resource picture to be taken to the product.

If you are wondering what the pink is for - that's when my student teacher Ms. Ehlers teaches!  It's so wonderful having a student teacher!  So much more time for differentiation and small group instruction!  Today we did small group re-teaching with rhyming and it was a BLAST!  Have you all seen this fun little game?  I got it through one of the Scholastic book orders.  We played it as a memory style game.  If the students turned over two cards that rhymed they were able to feed them to the little old lady!  TOO FUN!

Earlier this week I posted on Instagram about the need to actually write those plans down...they are in our heads right?  Well I received a lot of great feedback about being interested in the template!  Welp - here you go!  Just click on the picture to download!  I am *hoping* that the font was able to embed like I wanted - fingers crossed!  It's saved as a PowerPoint file so you all can edit and change things as needed!  Hope you find it helpful!  :)

I also posted this week about my new floor line up!  This is a great and easy way to practice sight word identification during transitions.  I put our third quarter sight words on the floor using packing tape.  When it is time to line up, I either hand out (or students grab from a bucket) small, matching cards that tell them what word to line up on.  There is no fighting over spots.  We aren't always standing next to our best friend.  Win!  Win!  We usually carry them to our next location (specials, assemblies, etc. - this is a GREAT fidget for the hallway!) and as we enter the room, the students hand the card to me and read the word.  Easy peasy!

If you would like a copy for to help brighten your room you can download it as a FREEBIE by clicking the picture below!  I have included the pre-primer dolch plus added a blank page for your own words.  There is also a matching nameplate for your desks and tables!

If you need a tip on how to turn the big cards for the floor into smaller cards to pass out to students - just follow my directions below!  It's super simple!  :)

I hope these FREEBIES are useful to you in your room to help you stay organized and sane while we wait for spring!  Here's to hoping it warms up soon!

Racheal

Snow day fun and then some!

Brrrrrr!  I hope you all are keeping warm!  Here in Missouri it is COLD and SNOWY!  Our area received about 11 inches Sunday night - crazy that our first snow fall came in the middle of February!  We already had a four day weekend off (Friday for Parent Teacher Conferences and Monday for President's Day) but that quickly during into a six day weekend once school was called off yesterday and today!  I'm looking forward a seven, maybe ten day weekend if we are off the rest of the week.  There is also talk of MORE SNOW this weekend!  Eeeek!  Don't get me wrong....I love snow days.  Spending time with my girls, Disney movies, being productive, another excuse for hot chocolate and cookies....but I am NOT a snow bunny.  I do NOT like being cold.

I did venture into the snow a few times to let the girls have some fun.  Madi LOVED it!

The snow was powdery (the pretty kind in my opinion) so we couldn't really have a snowball fight or snowman.  We did enjoy making snow angels,

Throwing snow into the air

And eating the snow - we even made snow ice cream!  No picture - BLOGGER FAIL!

Lila on the other hand wasn't as big of a fan.  Granted, the snow covered most of her legs so I understood why!

She did enjoy sitting in the sled and watching her sister play!

But when we tried to use the sled together - HA HA HA! It was a no go.

Finally we opted for using our shovels and sand buckets to dig in the snow and that kept everyone happy (including mommy as she pretended the snow was a warm beach somewhere....)

While we've had time to enjoy playing outside, I've also had time to start cleaning and organizing our home.  The holidays kicked my rear when it came to home organization and eventually I felt like I was taken over!  With a little motivation coming up (we will be putting our house on the market soon!) I decided there was no better time to organize than now!  I have also been inspired by Ann Marie over at White House Black Shutters!  She is once again hosting here 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge!

Head on over to Ann's blog to find out more about the challenge and to grab some free printables to help you get started!  I am soooo ready to get rid of some stuff!!!

I have had a little bit of time to squeeze in some school things.  I finished up my Whole Group Shared Reading Week 24 - American Symbols themed!

I also had a chance to bundle it with weeks 21-23!  Just click on the pictures to see the product in my store!

Here's to a productive rest of the week!  My goal is to have a Dental Health FREEBIE for you soon!

XOXO,

Racheal

February - The shortest and longest month!

It's February!  January kept me plenty busy and I just know that February is going to do the same! It seems like, while this is a short month to begin with - when you throw in no school on President's Day, parent teacher conferences, a professional development day and our Valentine Party - this month is going to be a very LONG month as well!

I am double dipping tonight with two link ups!  The first is with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade!  Here is what I currently have going on!

Listening: Catching up on some DVR - finally!  Life has been so busy lately and I am behind!!!

Loving: THEY ARE ASLEEP.  STILL.  PRAISE JESUS.  We have been battling the yucky cough + ear infection + teething battle lately and sleep has basically been a distant memory....

Thinking: Due to the previously mentioned lack of sleep...I should probably be in bed...

Wanting: Have you ever had one of those days you just couldn't seem to get it right?  Today was one of those days.  Where's the button y'all?  I need one stat.

Needing: The next few weeks are going to be busy and wild - can we fast forward a little please?

Pageant Title:  I am soooooo not good at this kind of thing.  I tried to think of one word that would describe me today and this is what I came up with!  Lots of decisions will need to be made in the next couple of weeks and I have no idea what to do!  Sending up some prayers for help with these choices!

I didn't get a chance to blog last week (no sleep remember?...), so here's a recap of what we did!

We kicked off our week with the 100th day of school!  I downloaded this amazing freebie from Mrs. Jones' Creation Station.

The kiddos loved her yummy snack sort!

We also enjoyed some fun writing!

What would you do if you had $100?  Go to Chuckie Cheese?

Or buy makeup?  LOL.  I love my kids!

Finally we made these fun pinterest inspired 100th day hats!  So fun!

Last week, our focus was on polar bears and we brought them into our writing!   One of the activities we did was look at various polar bear pictures on the iPad.  Students chose a picture and wrote about it.  So fun!  And they were so engaged!

We also worked with a CAN/HAVE/ARE graphic organizer to organize some of the information we have learned.  They did great using this considering it was our first time!!!

This writing page is part of this pack by Crystal McGinnis.  Click the picture below to grab it!

In math we gained some hands on experience building teen numbers.  We used this FABULOUS pack from Julie at Ms. Shope's Class.

This pack is SERIOUSLY AMAZING y'all!  My kiddos loved the activities and they were super easy to prepare and use!

We also used pretzels and M&Ms to practice building tens and ones.  This class.  If you feed them, they will learn!

This week, I am sharing my plans with you as part of Deedee's weekly Peek at My Week!

Click on my plans below to download and access links to the products I'm using!  The pink boxes indicate when my student teacher is teaching - everything is color coded people!!!

This week we are wrapping up our arctic animal study by researching penguins!  To go with our theme, I am using my new shared reading set!  It focuses on the words 'that' and 'with' so we will be working with beginning and ending digraphs!  Click the picture below to grab it!

I'll also be hanging up my new Differentiated February Write the Room cards!  This one set has 30 different cards and 36 different pages to last you the entire month!!!  Click the picture below to check it out!

This week hold a Professional Development day and our first night of parent teacher conferences, plus I am going to be observed by a small group of teachers from another district one day!  EEEEEK!  It's going to be a fun and busy week!  Hope yours goes well!
