Birthday Weekend in St. Louis, Plus a Peek at My Week

Sooooo apparently it's Tuesday?  When did that happen?  Honestly, this weekend flew by so fast I blinked and I was back at work.  I guess I was too busy having fun!  I recently turned the big 3-0 and I am blessed that I was able to celebrate it by spending the weekend in St. Louis.  The weekend was full of so many wonderful moments and memories.  What a great way to turn the dirty thirty!  ;)

We visited two St. Louis staples.  First up - I went to visit the St. Louis Arch and even traveled to the top for the first time!

The view was AMAZING!  I was able to see across St. Louis.  Check out Busch Stadium!!!!!

Then, we had a great time ice skating at Steinberg's outdoor ice rink in Forest Park.  I am NOT an ice skater - I bit it more than once - but I had so much fun trying!

I also had the chance to enjoy some wonderful food!  We enjoyed an 'adult beverage' and some nachos at Ballpark Village.  (So fun by the way!  If you are a baseball fan you need to visit!)

We had dinner at Dominic's on the Hill Saturday night- yummy Italian food and a chance to dress up!

And then had some pasta at the Broadway Oyster Bar.  SO GOOD and the coolest place.  So much character!  Records on the ceiling.  Great music.  Awesome staff.  Definitely a place to check out!

One of the biggest highlights of my weekend was celebrating turning 30 by doing something I've wanted to do for a LONG time - get a tattoo!  I finally did it!

This year is a year of big changes for my family and the arrows represent moving forward, focused toward a happier future.  I am in LOVE.  I must admit, I was scared y'all.  I mean, needles....ugh.  But Anna at TRX Tattoo was AMAZING.  I simply love her.  She made the whole experience so great.  If you are in the STL area and are wanting to get a tattoo go see her!!!

It wasn't ALL fun and games this weekend though.  I did sneak in a visit to The Teacher's Lounge where I picked up this fun little game for my small groups.

It's made by Learning Resources and my kiddos are going to love it!  You use different bolts and screws to build CVC words - turning and manipulating the bolts to create several different words.  It isn't more hands on than this!  #winning

The weekend was EXACTLY what I needed.  Relaxing, fun, HAPPY.  It flew by way too quickly, which is why it's Tuesday and I'm just now posting my 'Peek at my Week'.  Ooooops!  Let's blame it on the holiday shall we?

Here are my plans for the week.  We are focusing on seasons and doing some word work with run, ran, and play.  Click on the picture to download my plans.  Once there, click on any picture to go to the resource!

I am using my new Whole Group Shared Reading Week 20 set which I just uploaded and bundled with weeks 17-19.  To grab the set individually or with the bundle click on the pictures below!

It's going to be a busy week getting back into a routine!  My Madi is finally back at school after having her tonsils and adenoids out.  There are no more holidays or days off.  Time to get back at it!  Hope y'all have a great week!

XOXO,

Racheal

Peek at My Week & a BIRTHDAY!

I am linking up once again with the fabulous Deedee Wills for a Peek at My Week!  I would like to say I will actually be working a full week this week but, alas, mommy duty takes priority!  My Madi is still recovering from getting her tonsils and adenoids removed this past Wednesday.  We ended up back in the ER Friday night worried that she was dehydrated.

Apparently, along with her surgery, Madi picked up a bug while at the hospital which caused her vomiting - not a good thing to have with your tonsils just removed!  Ugh.  Poor baby!  She is finally feeling a tad better and I'm hoping after two days home with mommy she will be a brand new girl.

As promised, here are my plans!  Click on the picture to download and then you can click on any picture in my plans to be taken to the product.

This week we are reading some snowmen books (my fav!) and working on rules and laws.  Since I've been gone here and there, and since we've come back from winter break, I've noticed that my sweet little class is in need of some reteaching!  Our grade level's pacing calendar has Rules and Laws down for our social studies standard so I thought it would be a PERFECT starting point for reteaching behavior.  I whipped up my next shared reading set to focus on just that!  Using the words 'so' and 'not' we will be discussing good behavior as well as the 'ot' family and long vowel sounds!  Grab it by clicking the picture below!

I will hopefully be back at school by Wednesday so I can share some pictures of some of the fun activities I have planned for the week (sight word snowball fight and shaving cream snow words anyone?).  Plus Wednesday is kind of a special day for me....IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!  I usually don't make a big deal out of my birthday and this year I especially wanted to avoid it since I'm turning 30 (shhhhhh don't tell anyone!).  But I thought, "What the heck,? I better embrace it - it's happening whether I like it or not!"  So I'm throwing a sale, drinking a martini, and maybe getting a tattoo?.... More to come on that!

To help you celebrate with me, my entire store will be on sale Wednesday!  I should be posting my January Word Work before then (FINALLY!!!) so that will be included as well!

Happy Sunday!
XOXO,

Racheal

A New Year!

Hey y'all!  Happy New Year!  It's a little late I know, but better late than never right?! Man, the end of 2014 and the beginning of the new year kept me totally busy!  Besides normal holiday business my Madi celebrated turning 5.  FIVE!  This is unbelievable to me!  It seems like just yesterday my Christmas baby was born!

Eeek!  She's so big!  I am blown away every day by how sweet, smart, and simply grown up this kid is.  She was a little disappointed that she didn't get to go to Kindergarten the day she turned five, so now she is looking forward to turning six because, "She will DEFINITELY be in Kindergarten then!"

We enjoyed our winter break by playing games, lots of cuddling and coloring and story time at the library!  This little lady LOVES story time!

We had a teacher workday on Monday and I was back at it for one day.  I wish I would've gotten pictures - WHEW!  It was a crazy day!  Then, Wednesday was the big surgery day.  My Madi had her tonsils and adenoids removed yesterday.  She was SO BRAVE!  Mommy was a bigger mess than she was!

Today was recovery day one and it was rough.  Poor girl.  Lots of Disney and ice cream and she was still miserable.  Here's to hoping for a better day tomorrow!

I am so excited to get back to a normal routine.  This new year is going to be bringing new changes for our family and I am needing to be ORGANIZED!  I recently ordered my new Erin Condren planner and I could not be more excited!  Here's the style I picked out.  You can type in your own list of favorite things for the cover's background.  I am SUPER excited!  What do y'all think?

You should totally check it out for yourself!  Too cute!!!  Click HERE to look at all the planners you can choose from!

Along with the changes for our family, there are BIG changes happening for me personally.  While I'm not ready to share yet, please know that they are good changes!  But even good changes come with hard decisions.  A friend recently sent this to me and it PERFECTLY describes this upcoming year.

Now that holidays, birthday parties, and surgery is over - I am hoping to get my mind focused back on Kindergarten...I've been dragging my feet.....

Look for a post this weekend with my weekly plans and some information about an upcoming sale (someone I know turns 30 next week!  AHHHHHH!), as well as some fun new products!

Until then, I hope you all are staying warm and enjoying the new year!

XOXO,

Racheal
